A month ago my good friend Amanda Lee decided to quit her daytime job to pursue her dream as a full-time singer/songwriter/musician. This is a huge leap since I know how difficult it is to get one’s name and music out there to the public without a label to promote you and back you up with funds.I have great faith that she will be successful because she has a beautiful voice and has soothing songwriting skills.  Weeks later, she teamed up with the soulful singer/songwriter Joy Ike from Pennsylvania to have a mini tour in cities along the northeastern coast called “Seasons Change”.  Amanda, as usual, has her husband, Posido Vega, join her on bass and percussion.  They start off their tour in Northern Virginia and end their tour a week later in Washington DC. This is Amanda’s first ever tour, so I had to come out and support her the best way I know how :).

Just my luck and theirs, I was able to attend two of their six shows from their tour.  I had the opportunity to see them kick off their tour in Jireh Bakery in Virginia and end their tour at Ebenezers Coffeehouse in Washington DC.  It is ironic how the tour ends at Ebenezers where the three of us met for the very first time.  About two years ago, September 17, 2010 to be exact, was when Amanda, Joy, and I met each other for the first time.  Joy headlined the showcase that evening while Amanda was a guest performer with Joanne Kim who opened for Joy.  I was actually there to see Joanne perform and was blown away by Amanda’s performance and voice.  Ever since, I’ve been a huge supporter and friend of Amanda.  Amanda released her first EP a year ago called “Go" and continues to write new songs to perform to her fans.I didn’t get to talk to Joy the first time I met her, but during this tour,I got to hang out and know her much better since I was able to hang with the whole gang after the opening show for their tour by having a late late dinner with them.  Joy is a very down to Earth singer/songwriter, and she and Amanda would just click like sisters on their tour.  Joy currently has released two full length albums. Her first album is called “Good Morning" released back in 2008 and her sophomore album called "Rumors" released two years later.  It is now a couple of years later, and Joy is on track for her third album expected to be released soon.  It just made their last show at Ebenezers a lot more nostalgic.

Tour Kickoff Show

At their first show of the tour at Jireh Bakery in Centreville, Virginia, Joy opened the show and performed her set.  She performed a total of seven original songs.  She is well known for getting cozy at her shows and plays barefoot while she jams on her piano.  She also performed a few songs on her Ukelele.  I was able to take some video footage from the show, click on the links below to see Joy’s performances and prologues.

Amanda and her husband, Posido, takes the stage soon after Joy is finished with her set.  She performs a total of eights songs where one is a song cover of a cover by Madi Diaz.  The rest of her songs are originals written by her.  Two of which are new songs that she wrote where she has yet to perform until her first show of the tour.  Posido, as usual, accompanies her music on bass.  She switched it up for her opening song performance “Empty” by singing it with a more soulful and more jazzed up rendition of the song.  To see the video footage I was able to capture from Amanda’s set, click on the links below.

After the show, I stuck around while Amanda and Joy meets and greet their fans, supporters, friends, and family.  I also helped them pack up their equipment.  Afterwards we all went out to eat for a late late dinner at the only place that was still open, IHOP.  We hung out, talked, and caught up with life and stuff since it’s been awhile since I last saw Amanda and Posido. I also took some pictures from the kickoff show of the “Seasons Change” tour and you can see them by clicking on the collage or links below.

Tour Ending Show

Five days later, Amanda and Joy’s tour comes to a close at the very venue they first met, Ebenezers Coffeehouse in Washington DC.  I actually arrived before they both arrived and got myself the best spot possible for video footage.  What I like about Ebenezers versus Jireh is that I will be able to move around to get better pictures from different angles.  Once they arrived, they were parked nearby, so I went out to help them carry all their equipment. The show started after they set up and do a sound check.  As Joy was setting up her merchandise stand, I went over and asked to buy her CDs since I didn’t get the chance to from their first show of the tour.  Joy gave the CDs to me as a gift because I was taking pictures and video of their tour.  That was really sweet of her.  Since it was a free show, they passed around a donations/tip bin for anyone that wanted to tip them for their show.  I thought it was only fair I tipped them $20.For this last show, Amanda and Joy does something I don’t see very often at any live shows.  They take turns singing their songs rather than having one artist perform first.  What a great way to end the tour by performing it together.  I also thought the way they planned the lineup for their shows are very clever.  Amanda would headline the shows at the cities she’s more known at while Joy headlines the shows at the cities she’s more known at.  What makes this last show even cooler is that it was a free show.  These two perform for a show that lasted for an hour and a half and both performed a total of eight songs. The turnout for their last show of the tour was a pretty good one.  It filled up most of the coffeehouse.

Below are some video footage that was captured from this last show of their “Seasons Change” tour. You can view them by clicking on the links below or click on the embedded video to view them all in one go.

After the show, I went around the room and took pictures of fans, friends, and family with both artists.I thought it would be a great way to end their tour to help Amanda and Joy capture all the happy moments at the end of their tour.  After all their equipment were packed up and stored away in their cars, I ask a quick little photo shoot with Amanda, Posido, and Joy outside of the venue.  After we finished that, Amanda, Posido, and I had dinner at Matchbox in the Southeast location in DC with some of their friends.
